Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any prerequisites?
No, there are no prerequisites. You do not have to be a nurse or have a degree of any kind. You just need to have an open heart and loving hands
Do I have to complete the reading list before the training?
No, you do not have to complete the reading list before the training. I do tell women that the more information they come with, the better. When you are not first learning about the cervix and dilation you can concentrate more on the deeper content of the training. I suggest women do the pre-workshop study guide, but I do not require it or look at it; it is for your knowledge and preparation.
Will I be certified after the training?
No, my training counts towards two parts of your certification. This is unique due to the length and content of the course. My training qualifies for the requirement to attend a childbirth education class. (See Steps to Certification for more details.)
How long is the training?
The trainings are usually four full days from 10am till 5pm. (This is subject to change; refer to your training registration for times and days.)
Is the $100 deposit separate from the cost of the training?
No, the $100 is part of the total cost of the training.
Do you accept payment plans?
Yes, I do accept payment plans. I ask that you send in the $100 registration deposit and then fill out a payment agreement form. I limit my payment plans to three months. Final payments are due at the training.
How much do doulas usually earn?
Doulas earn various amounts, depending on experience and location. Doulas in the Western MA area usually get $300-$1000 per birth. (Tthis is discussed more at the training.)
Do I need to bring anything?
Yes, there are some things I ask the participants to bring. You will learn all the details of what you need to bring and the schedule of the training in the Welcome Letter that is sent out shortly before the first day of class.
