Chana Luba Ertel has been a labor assistant since 1998. Her training began in Israel at the Misgav Ladach Birthing Hospital in Jerusalem, where she studied childbirth intensively through a Professional Labor Assistant program and worked many hours on the labor and delivery floor.

Since then her experience attending births as a doula has brought her to homes, hospitals and childbirth centers assisting many kinds of birthing families. Chana Luba's knowledge and experience of labor, birth and postpartum has grown out of learning from many teachers and programs including, hynobirthing training, Safe Passage Supporting Survivors, Midwifery Today Conferences, CAPPA and DONA Certification trainings, her own births and doula experiences as well as her Midwifery Studies and apprenticeship.

Chana Luba began teaching Childbirth Education in Brooklyn in 2000 and has continued to teach and enjoyed her position as Childbirth Educator at Baystate Franklin Medical Center where is offered her unique Mind Body Birth class for over three years. She began training doulas for CAPPA in 2002 and has since prepared hundreds of women to embark on their doula journey.

Chana Luba began her Midwifery Apprenticeship with River Valley Midwives in September of 2007 and is honored to have attended homebirths with midwives, Jharna Harvey-Ahmai, Kristen Bernard and Kirstin Lane for over three years. During that time she also attended Heaven and Earth Midwifery School with honored teacher Elizabeth Mazanec as well as studying at the Farm Midwifery Center in Tennesse with Pam Hunt and Ina May Gaskin. She is currently working towards her CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) Certificate.

Most importantly Chana Luba is a wife and mother of four children all born into the hands of Midwives!
